The Umbrella Academy star shared the new photo on his social media.
Elliot Page continues to prove how singular he is by pulling off another incredible feat: Looking fabulous in his new passport photo.
The Umbrella Academy star shared the image on his Instagram over the weekend with the caption, “Never thought I would love a passport photo.”
Unsurprisingly, Page is receiving rave reviews in the comments. “It’s extremely good!!!,” wrote actor Melanie Lynskey. “Yes please sir,” wrote comic Mae Martin. “It’s giving !!,” added drag star Trixie Mattel. “The best passport photo I’ve seen,” wrote director Reed Morano. “That’s a keeper,” The Umbrella Academy executive producer Jeff King commented.
Page first came out as trans in 2020 via Instagram. “I feel lucky to be writing this. To be here. To have arrived at this place in my life. I feel overwhelming gratitude for the incredible people who have supported me along this journey. I can’t begin to express how remarkable it feels to finally love who I am enough to pursue my authentic self. I’ve been endlessly inspired by so many in the trans community. Thank you for your courage, your generosity and ceaselessly working to make this world a more inclusive and compassionate place,” he shared at the time.
Subsequently, Page’s character on The Umbrella Academy, Vanya, came out and changed his name to Viktor. In a recent appearance on Late Night with Seth Myers, the actor praised showrunner Steve Blackman for his excitement in exploring Viktor’s gender identity in the series. “When we first talked about it he seemed really excited about incorporating it into the show,” Page shared. “[They] an incredible writer, journalist, author Thomas Page McBee, who I met doing a miniseries called Tales of the City. He wrote an extraordinary book called Amateur, which I highly recommend everybody to read. He was the first trans man to box in Madison Square Garden. And his book and his work in general are so much about masculinity and what it means and exploring that. Thomas came on board and helped out and I feel proud of it and excited for people to see it.”
Season three of The Umbrella Academy is streaming now on Netflix.
