Harry Styles Isn’t Going to Label His Sexuality: ‘It Doesn’t Matter'

"It's about not having to label everything."

Harry Styles, pop star and singer of the biggest song in the world right now ("As It Was"), has opened about his new album Harry's House, his insecurities, and more in a beautiful new cover story for Homes & Garden Magazine

In the in-depth feature, the private 28-year-old shares his pandemic experience, his anxieties around being well-liked, explains why he loves swimming so much, and shares more of his thoughts about sexuality and the concept of sharing your romantic life with the world.

Read the excerpt below:

"Around the time of Fine Line, he faced scrutiny around his sexuality. People became incredulous that he wore dresses, waved Pride flags, and yet hadn't clarified with precision, publicly to a journalist or on social media, the specifics of who he'd slept with, how he defined. This expectation is, to him, bizarre, 'outdated.' 'I've been really open with it with my friends, but that's my personal experience; it's mine,' he said. 'The whole point of where we should be heading, which is toward accepting everybody and being more open, is that it doesn't matter, and it's about not having to label everything, not having to clarify what boxes you're checking.'"

Speculation around his sexuality began with Styles' gender-defying fashion. The pop star has also been known to wave Pride flags around the stage, most recently picking up a bisexual flag up at Coachella and wrapping it around him. But if you're looking for him to clarify exactly how he identifies, don't hold your breath.
