Demi Lovato is blowing the internet away with their live performance of Whitney Houston’s version of “I Will Always Love You.”

The performance was showcased in the two-part finale of Peacock’s Paris in Love, during Paris Hilton’s wedding to venture capitalist Carter Reum. Demi took the stage in a black suit, while the packed room of rich and famous wedding guests looked on.

By the end of Demi’s rendition of the difficult song, they were on the receiving end of a well-deserved standing ovation, as Paris and Carter celebrated this memorable moment in an undoubtedly overall momentous occasion.

Whitney Houston was obvious a master at her craft, and “I Will Always Love You” is easily one of her most difficult songs for other performers to nail in her style, but the clip of Demi’s take on it for Paris’s special day soon went viral as their fans praised the cover.

“Only legends could cover Whitney and do a good job,” one fan commented.

Demi previously announced the end of their pop music era, getting ready to introduce a new sound in the next phase of their career. Instagram pictures and stories have suggested they are heading for a punk rock vibe, which certainly matches their new look — a buzzcut, band tees, and a smoldering hard edge that smacks you right in the face. In a good way, of course.

The video from Paris’ wedding was shot a couple months ago, back in November, seemingly before Demi got back in the studio to get started on this next chapter.

And if you want to watch it in context, the whole season of Paris in Love is available on Peacock.
