Stephen Colbert Trolls Nicki Minaj's Anti-Vax Tweets in Parody

Rap star Nicki Minaj opened up about why she has yet to get vaccinated in a series of tweets that is causing quite the stir.

On Monday, she revealed why she didn't attend the Met Gala. "They want you to get vaccinated for the Met. if I get vaccinated it won’t for the Met. It’ll be once I feel I’ve done enough research. I’m working on that now. In the meantime my loves, be safe. Wear the mask with 2 strings that grips your head & face. Not that loose one," the 38-year-old wrote. 

She followed that up with an anecdote about a family member. "My cousin in Trinidad won’t get the vaccine cuz his friend got it & became impotent. His testicles became swollen. His friend was weeks away from getting married, now the girl called off the wedding. So just pray on it & make sure you’re comfortable with ur decision, not bullied."

While many are calling out the "Super Bass" rapper for spreading misinformation about the vaccine, anti-vax folks have heralded her word-vomit as a voice of reason. Annoying far-right social media personality Candace Owens praised Minaj, tweeted "This is everything. Real queens do not act because of peer pressure."

Even Dr. Anthony Fauci, the nation’s leading infectious disease expert, responded to the claim. "There’s no evidence that it happens, nor is there any mechanistic reason to imagine that it would happen," he said. "I'm not blaming her for anything but she should be thinking twice about propagating information that really has no basis."

Minaj's tweets are even inspiring parodies. Late-night talk show host Stephen Colbert premiered a parody titled "Super Balls", poking fun at Minaj's alleged cousin with the "swollen testes."

Minaj is clearly not afraid of what the internet thinks when she speaks her mind but she should certainly be more careful to not perpetuate misinformation in such a sensitive time in our world's history. 

In the meantime, she's rolling with the punches. She's responding to many of the call-outs on social media and it's making for some pretty solid entertainment. 

Earlier today, Trinidad and Tobago Health Minister Dr. Terrence Deyalsingh responded to the claim as well, calling Minaj's claim completely false. "There is absolutely no reported such side effect or adverse event of testicular swelling in Trinidad or none that we know of anywhere else in the world."
