RuPaul Doesn’t Like Spider-Man ‘Because I’m Gay’
RuPaul’s got some burning questions about Spider-Man he needs answered — namely, why?
Everyone’s favorite Drag Race host stopped by Jimmy Kimmel Live recently to talk about Christmas, his new movie, and, of all things, superhero franchises.
Although he says he understands the love people have for some other prominent heroes, Ru admitted he’s had a hard time following the thread when it comes to Spidey.
“What’s the thing with Spider-Man?” he asked. “‘Cause I get Superman, I get Wonder Woman — I’ve never gotten Spider-Man.”
“Why?” wondered Jimmy.
“You know, I think because I’m gay. I think that’s probably it,” RuPaul joked, but like, valid.
Incredibly enough, he went on to grace us with his thoughts about why Superman resonates so much with a broad audience.
“Superman is really the story of Christ. It’s the story of an ascended master,” he explained. “Superman represents the hidden specialness, uniqueness that each of us has.”
But of course, that’s not all.
“The thing is that Clark Kent is hot,” Ru concluded, getting to the bones of it all if we’re being honest. “He’s hot. Smokin’ hot.”
RuPaul and Jimmy also touched on the little ornament debacle that had Ru firing off a cease and desist against the seller last month.
“It’s so awful,” he said of the extremely unflattering ornament version of himself that was all over the internet. “It’s so hideous. It’s rotten.”

Well, he’s not wrong. But on the other hand if Christmas isn’t the time for tacky nonsense, when is?
And more importantly, what other superheroes does he have strong opinions about? Let's chat Captain America next. For science.
Rachel Kiley is presumably a writer and definitely not a terminator. She can usually be found crying over queerbaiting in the Pitch Perfect franchise or on Twitter, if not both.
