The out Olympic skier got dolled up over the Thanksgiving holiday.
Gus Kenworthy debuted a glamorous new look on Instagram over the holiday weekend and the transformation was incredible. The Olympic medal-winning athlete posted a series of photos of himself and his friends ringing in the Thanksgiving holiday at iconic West Hollywood haunt Chateau Marmont—in drag.
“Potluck dinner but we only served lewks!" read the caption. "Happy Dragsgiving everyone! Thank you [Jonnie Reinhart] for my gorgeous transformation.”
Instead of the “get you a man who can do both” energy you might have thought/hoped these photos would receive, some folks in the comments section decided to choose femmephobia instead.
Thankfully, not everyone who commented on Kenworthy’s drag debut was so, well, disappointing and misogynistic. Plenty showed support for the out athlete getting in touch with his inner doll.
Kenworthy has little time to worry about what some people on the internet think, as he’s currently getting back to training in the hopes of competing for team Great Britain at 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing. The freestyle skier also announced that he’s the new face of the fall/winter Prada campaign. “Forever grateful to this sport for the people it has introduced me to and the opportunities it has brought my way. Honored to be the face of Prada’s fall/winter ‘21 campaign,” he wrote.
We’d like to share our support and excitement for all Kenworthy’s endeavors, from ski slopes, to the runway, to the halls of Chateau Marmont (in heels). Because he’s what? Sickening.
