Kal Penn might be getting the wedding of his dreams when he marries his partner Josh — literally.
After the Harold & Kumar star spotted rapper Cardi B on his flight to L.A., he tweeted about a dream he had about her. “I fell asleep and had a dream that she officiated our wedding on the plane and the three of us walked out of LAX holding hands,” wrote Penn.
The tweet caught Cardi’s eye and she responded, writing, “First, why didn’t you say hi! Second, I’m licensed to do that sooo……. let me know.”
Penn made it clear that if that offer is real, he’s ready to say yes to her proposal. “You’re the best,” he wrote. “Was gonna say hi but didn’t want to be disrespectful (your do not disturb light was on). But holy s--t let’s do it! We’re down if you’re down!” To which Cardi responded, “I’m down. I’ll get my suit.”
And just like that, Penn’s upcoming nuptials became the wedding of the century. The size of the big day is still up for debate, however, according to Penn. The actor shared with People that he and his fiance have conflicting opinions when it comes to the wedding’s scope. “I want the big-ass Indian wedding. Josh, hates attention, [has said], ‘Or we could just do [a] quick 20-minute thing with our families and that’s it.’ So, we have to meet halfway in the middle,” he told the magazine. Not sure where “officiated by Cardi B” fits on that spectrum, but we love to see it.
If you’re wondering if Cardi can actually make good on her offer to help the couple tie the knot, it’s true she’s a licensed officiant. It won’t even be her first time assisting a same-sex couple on their big day. In an episode of her Facebook series Cardi Tries, the rapper officiated a gay couple’s wedding on National Coming Out Day, with actress Raven-Symoné providing her services as the ring bearer.
Now the only question is: Where’s our invite? Because this wedding is one we don’t want to miss.
