The acting legend had some amazing, encouraging words for the young social media star!

Sir Ian McKellen is the supportive gay uncle we all wish we had!

After publicly voicing his support earlier this month for his X-Men co-star and The Umbrella Academy's Elliot Page (who publicly came out as trans back in December 2020), the out, 81-year-old acting legend is now also showing love to 17-year-old dancer and YouTube star JoJo Siwa after her public coming out, and LGBTQ+ people proudly and openly supporting fellow members of the community is something we'll never get tired of seeing.

"I hope @itsjojosiwa puts aside any negative reaction to her coming-out, at a time when she deserves praise and empathy for taking control of her life in such a public way," the Oscar-nominated actor wrote in a quote tweet of JoJo's now-famous "Best. Gay. Cousin. Ever." shirt.

Though JoJo has faced a huge outpouring of support since she decided to publicly open up about her sexuality and her identity, because we still live in a largely heteronormative world, she did experience some backlash from conservatives and homophobes flooding her Instagram comments. But luckily, like a true queen, the Nickelodeon star knew exactly the right way to handle the haters...

With a supportive AF fanbase that includes the likes of Sir Ian McKellen, you really can't lose!
