After 3 years of marriage, Umbrella Academy star Elliot Page has filed for a divorce from wife Emma Portner.
According to a TMZ report, Page submitted paperwork at the Manhattan Supreme Court for a contested divorce from his wife Emma Portner earlier today.
The news comes just a couple of months after Page announced their transition last December. "I want to share with you that I am trans, my pronouns are he/they and my name is Elliot," he wrote on social media. "I feel lucky to be writing this. To be here. To have arrived at this place in my life."
At the time, Portner was outspokenly supportive of Page's transition. "I am so proud of @ElliotPage," she wrote. "Trans, queer, and non-binary people are a gift to this world," she said on Instagram alongside her repost of Page's letter. "I also ask for patience & privacy but that you join me in the fervent support of trans life every single day. Elliot’s existence is a gift in and of itself. Shine on sweet E. Love you so much."
Page and Portner were married in January of 2018. "Can’t believe I get to call this extraordinary woman my wife," Page wrote then.
The two released a joint statement about their separation, according to People Magazine:
"After much thought and careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to divorce following our separation last summer. We have the utmost respect for each other and remain close friends."
