Spice Girls and Little Mix Singers to Appear on RuPaul's Drag Race UK
As everyone waits nervously to see what to make of RuPaul’s Drag Race UK, the tidbits of info keep rolling slowly in.
Geri Horner aka Ginger Spice of Spice Girls fame and Jade Thirlwall of current girl group Little Mix will both serve as guest judges on the upcoming series.
Game of Thrones’ Maisie Williams had previously been announced as a guest, and RuPaul, Michelle Visage, Graham Norton, and Alan Carr will be sitting down at the judges’ table every week.
“I just love how drag encourages people to be exactly who they are,” Geri said. “This show has brought so much joy and pride to people all over the world, I can’t wait for everyone to see the amazing queens representing the UK in this first ever series.”
The Spice Girls’ original iconic array of costumes have long made them the subjects of drag tributes over the years. Meanwhile, Little Mix featured several RPDR drag queens in their video for the song “Power,” and earlier this year took a bold stand for LGBTQ rights in the middle of a performance in Dubai.
And Jade seems just as excited to take a spin on the new UK version of Drag Race as Geri does.
“I love absolutely everything about drag,” she said. “I love that it’s art. I love how fabulous it is, how fun it is, I love that you can transform your body into a fantastic beautiful woman…the whole thing!”
Details about the upcoming expanse to the UK are still largely under wraps, but we can expect it to hit British airwaves sometime this fall.
