Actor Sara Gilbert and Musician Linda Perry File for Separation
They've been together since 2011.
After nearly six years of marriage, actor Sara Gilbert and musician Linda Perry have filed for divorce.
Gilbert and Perry married back in March of 2014 after less than three years of dating. They have one son together, in addition to the two kids Gilbert had from a previous relationship.
According to People, the divorce papers were filed by Gilbert on Friday, but the date of separation was listed as August 13, with — you guessed it — “irreconcilable differences” given as the reason for the divorce.
The timing is of particular interest. Gilbert quit her co-hosting gig on The Talk earlier this summer. During her final episode, Perry and Gilbert’s daughter, Sawyer, surprised Gilbert on the show to perform a song Sawyer wrote for her mom. That was August 2, less than two weeks before the couple reportedly split.
Back in April, Gilbert said she was leaving the show because between The Talk and her time commitment to her Roseanne spin-off, The Conners, her “life was slightly out of balance.”
“I wasn’t able to spend as much time with my three kids as I’d like, or time for myself,” she said.
However, the two seemed to be doing fine back in August, with Perry calling her wife a “true, very inspiring human being here that is always trying to advance herself and everybody else around her.”
Neither Gilbert nor Perry has commented publicly on the split.
