The best kind of ambush.

As if Brie Larson joining up with Tessa Thompson to break the entire internet over the weekend at ACE Comic Con wasn’t enough, she also had another viral moment related to the convention.

A couple attending the event stopped in to take a photo with Brie. But one of the men had a surprise in store. Sporting a Captain Marvel jacket himself, the fan got down on one knee and proposed to his boyfriend as the camera went off.

The series of surprise faces and happy grins culminated in a sweet kiss, with Brie looking on in continued surprise, and it honestly couldn’t be sweeter.

The man with the ring, John Chambrone, posted on his Facebook page that he wrote Brie a letter ahead of time so he could hand it to her after the proposal and explain the situation.

“Sorry to ‘ambush’ you with the proposal, but there is a reason why once I knew we were going to meet you, that it would be the perfect opportunity to pledge my love to Richard Owen and promise to love him forever,” he wrote.

He went on to explain how important Carol Danvers had been to him as a kid, and said that his first real date with Richard had been to see Captain Marvel, and that was why involving her in their engagement meant so much to him.

While fans may not know the whole story behind the proposal, it still quickly went viral, and the reaction from everyone has been wonderful.

And John need not have apologized for the “ambush,” as Brie herself was pretty thrilled to be a part of their special moment.
