Rami Malek and Daniel Craig Kissed During James Bond Rehearsals
The fan fic writes itself.
As you can probably guess, despite the title, this isn't some steamy confession that Rami Malek and Daniel Craig were secret lovers and are now revealing all.
But they did kiss! And it sounds like a great story!
Malek went on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert the other night to promote the upcoming season of Mr. Robot. But he also had some anecdotes to share about the upcoming James Bond movie, No Time to Die, in which he plays the new villain Craig’s 007 is up against.
“What’s it like doing scenes with Daniel Craig?” Colbert asked.
Malek responded with a story about a complicated scene they were rehearsing and something wasn’t working, so they sat with the director for hours throwing out ideas to make it work. And after finally having a breakthrough about it, Craig was clearly in a celebratory mood.
“And he grabbed me and picked me up, and I can’t tell who initiated the next moment, if it was him or I, but a kiss transpired between the two of us. I’m gonna say that Daniel initiated it. And I was very taken aback.”
“Was it welcome?” Colbert asked.
“Yes! Very much so,” he confirmed. “And I took a moment, caught my breath, looked out and said, ‘So does this make me a Bond girl?’”
It’s baffling that such a moment didn’t inspire a whole new direction for the film! But even now, when we go to theaters and watch Craig and Malek duke it out over whatever villainous deeds the latter is engaging in, we’ll just be imagining how beautiful employing the ‘enemies to lovers’ trope could have been…
No Time to Die is out in theaters next April, but you can watch the full interview clip between Colbert and Malek below.
