Like a phoenix from the flames, big mouthed and big hearted Rosie O'Donnell has effectively thrust herself into the spotlight these past few weeks. Not since the comic, former talk show host and actress famously ripped apart Donald Trump's weave on The View a few years back has she been so out there in the media.
While O'Donnell has recently made headlines for her new love affair with Tracy Kachtick-Anders, a candid appearance on The Oprah Winfrey Show last Monday and for chatting up intimate details of her love life with Howard Stern, Rosie fans and naysayers alike can not deny her devotion to family when her HBO documentary A Family is a Family airs this Sunday at 7 p.m.
The 40-minute doc paints a mural of diverse families including multi-racial and families headed by lesbian or gay male parents. First-person stories of love from the mouths of the children in those non-traditional families and music by the likes of Ziggy Marley, Bonnie Raitt, Sweet Honey in the Rock and They Might Be Giants help create a pastiche of loving families.
