CBS’s The Talk, featuring co-hosts Sara Gilbert, Julie Chen, Sharon Osbourne, Holly Robinson Peete, Leah Remini has been picked up for a second season, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
THR reports that CBS announced the pickup after the show has garnered strong ratings for several weeks, averaging 2.2 million viewers.
The network’s President Nina Tassler had this to say about CBS’s The View-like talk show:
"After only a few months on the air, The Talk has delivered creative and ratings growth and established a strong profile in daytime," Nina Tassler, President, CBS Entertainment, said in a statement. "The co-hosts have clicked together, the topics have connected with the audience and the show has added a new dimension to our top-rated daytime line-up. We're excited about its current success and the potential to grow and evolve 'The Talk' even further."
The show differs from The View in that the overall focus is on issues facing moms and families. Host Gilbert represents a lesbian voice on the panel as she and her partner Allison Adler are moms to two children.
