The hit Starz series Spartacus:Vengeance is getting an extra dose of girl-power in the upcoming season, TV Guide reports.
A “beautiful [and] vicious” female gladiator will be maiming the men of the arena in Spartacus: Vengeance. Casting news and plot details on the new female gladiator are still top secret, but we’re told, “She’s a passionate competitor—both on the battlefield and in the bedroom.”
The series captured the attention of many lesbian fans with its portrayal of fluid sexuality in the previous season Spartacus: Blood and Sand and the six-episode prequel Spartacus: Gods of the Arena. Of course, it didn’t hurt that the lovely Lucy Lawless, who will be returning for the new season, is one of the alluring central characters in the Roman drama.
Also retuning to the series will be the beautiful Viva Bianca as the villainous Ilithyia and the actress gave UGO.com a little insight of what we should expect to see from her character in the new season.
Bianca tells UGO:
“It’s been fascinating approaching Ilithyia this second time around, because the woman we meet at the start of season two is quite different to the bright-eyed, giggly young noble woman we first met in season one. Ilithyia has walked the dark side and now carries with her a suitcase of demons from from her very recent times at the Ludus. When once she was the character that knew nothing else but to have everything, now she has a lot to fight against and a lot to fight for."
The new season will premiere on Starz in January 2012.
