Sia talks to The Advocate: Video

While in Los Angeles rehearsing for the tour in support of We Are Born, Sia spoke about the difficulty of getting a record deal for an up-tempo album when she's been primarily known for emotional slow-burners, collaborating with Christina Aquilera, life on the road, giving interviews (she's not a huge fan of this part of the business, but she gamely played along), and how she met her girlfriend, Le Tigre band member JD Samson, with whom she is hoping to have a baby this year.

Whether you know her as the longtime vocalist and collaborator with U.K. band Zero 7 or as the singer whose haunting song "Breathe Me" was played over the final moments of the series Six Feet Under, there's a good chance you've heard Sia's rich, plaintive, and inimitable voice.
