Denise and Donna of The Lesbian Lounge announced their Golden Kitty Awards for the New Year and SheWired is a lucky recipient along with Autostraddle.com. Other Golden Kitty recipients include Cathy DeBuono and Jill Bennett for We Have to Stop Now, Shannon Wentworth and Sweet Travel and Cherry Bomb.
Denise and Donna, of the wildly popular podcast The Lesbian Lounge, on MyLesbianRadio.com have announced their annual Golden Kitty Awards, and we at SheWired are thrilled they bestowed one upon us! (Insert naughty kitty euphemism joke here).
But seriously, Denise and Donna, who go live every Wednesday at 9 p.m. EST to interview died-in-the-wool lesbian pioneers as well as up and coming celesbians, announced their 2nd Annual Golden Kitty Awards on their New Year's Eve / Eve show last Wednesday. And the Lesbian Loungers named our little SheWired Best Site for Lesbians. Of course, we are in great company as our award is shared with those East Coast wildly witty sitesters at Autostraddle.com. Congrats to the Autostraddle girls for their Golden Kitty.
In an email announcing the winners, Donna wrote the following about the complicating vetting process for choosing the recipients:
You may be interested in knowing the intense, complicated, calculated process that goes into the determination of who wins which award. Throughout the year we keep very specific data from each show, each guest, and each topic which is then fed into the computer on a weekly basis and calculated by the accounting firm of M. Bezel & Ass., Esq, who then keeps the results suspended in granola until just before we broadcast the show.
Oh wait a minute.. that's not right.. Denise bends over the recycle bin about a day before the last show of the year, grabs a handful of discarded notes, and throws something together.
Okay it's really a mix between the two above stated scenarios. Either way, we have a lot of fun doing the show every week and even more fun reminiscing about it at the end of the year.
Other big winners were SheWired's fave celesbians Cathy DeBuono and Jill Bennett for their Web series We Have to Stop Now, our pals the Cherry Bomb girls, who were voted "Best Way to Kill Time," and Shannon Wentworth and Sweet Travel.
