There is a moment in just about every workday when we come across something sexy, gratuitous and completely pointless that we wish we could post but don’t under the auspices of there being nothing lesbian about it and often there being no redeeming value. Well, we at SheWired have made an executive decision to just throw any of our pseudo-feminist caution to the wind and to just post our fave shot of the day, whether it be sexy, salacious, or just because…
We here at SheWired, along with most members have the TV audience, have been swept away by Amy Poehler’s hilarious and heartfelt performance as Leslie Knope week after week on NBC’s Parks & Recreation.
Poehler is sitting pretty on the cover of New York Magazine and the pregnant producer, star, and writer (who was nominated for an Emmy and named one of Time’s 100 Most Influential people, too!) reigns hilariously supreme in the accompanying interview.
NY Mag asks their cover girl which TV characters influenced her:
“Laverne and Shirley was physical and broad, and I loved those characters. Law & Order’s Lieutenant Anita van Buren is a great example of a tough lady among men. Omar Little from The Wire—one of the best bad good guys, or good bad guys, on TV. Animal from The Muppets, who taught me when in doubt, go crazy [laughs]. And Cliff, from Cheers.”
The article also asks Poehler what character she would like to play from TV past:
“Alex P. Keaton from Family Ties. He had good jokes. Or Mr. Roarke from Fantasy Island. I would love to welcome people to my island, on TV or in life. Hopefully my career will go well enough that I’ll be welcoming you all to an island and I’ll have some weird potion that everyone drinks, which leads to scary, trippy sex times.”
They end by asking her what she’s learned from her Parks… character, Leslie Knope:
“Protect your friends. You only have one hometown. If you think you’ve had a bad date, remember, it can always get worse. And it’s okay to eat breakfast for dinner.”
Hot, smart, and flat-out funny, it’s easy to see why everyone's sweet on Amy.
