Comedian Rosie O’Donnell will return to daytime TV in 2011 on OWN: The Oprah Winfrey Network. She will host a new daily one-hour, talk show, which she will also produce.
"Rosie is an undeniable talent who has captivated TV audiences for nearly 20 years," said Winfrey. "She's a true original, who brings her authentic voice, dynamic energy and pure passion to everything she does."
O’Donnell was host of The Rosie O’Donnell Show on network TV from 1996 to 2002, receiving six consecutive Daytime Emmys for Outstanding Talk Show Host. She became one of the co-hosts of The View TV show in 2006 leaving that show in 2007. She recently produced an HBO special A Family Is a Family is A Family: A Rosie O'Donnell Celebration, which celebrated all types of families including her own. She also has appeared on the new TV series, Drop Dead Diva and can be heard on the daily, two-hour Rosie Radio show on Sirius XM Radio.
"It's an honor and a privilege to work with Oprah Winfrey on her network," said O'Donnell. "I'm excited to be back on daytime television."
OWN: The Oprah Winfrey Network, a joint venture between Oprah Winfrey and Discovery Communications, will debut January 1, 2011, on what is currently the Discovery Health Channel.
