Raise a Drink to Irish American Lasses...or Beannachtaí na Féile Pádraig!

The term “Kiss Me I’m Irish” takes on a whole new meaning today as we profile the 7 (get it, lucky number 7) most amazing Irish/Irish-American Lassies in the biz including Jennifer Connelly, Alyson Hannigan, Megan Fox and Olivia Wilde. So lesbians toast these lasses!

The term “Kiss Me I’m Irish” takes on a whole new meaning today as we profile the 7 (get it, lucky number 7) most amazing Irish/Irish-American Lassies in the biz.

7) Jennifer Connelly – Connelly was born with Irish blood from her father’s side of the family and is widely regarded as one of the best actresses in the business. She burst onto the scene in 1984 and has gone on to star in a wide range of films including He’s Just Not That Into You, A Beautiful Mind and House of Sand and Fog. Connelly played a lesbian (Taryn) in the 1995 John Singleton flick Higher Learning, seducing Kristy Swanson in the process.

6) Andrea Corr – Andrea is the lead singer of the Irish rock/Celtic musical group The Corrs. The Corrs have sold over 30 million albums to date and have performed live with various bands including U2 and The Rolling Stones. Andrea has tried to make the leap into movies with small roles in The Commitments and Evita. Corr is a true beauty, beating out Catherine Zeta Jones for the title of most beautiful woman by various UK publications.

5) Alyson Hannigan – Hannigan is always smiling, laughing and having a good time, could it be because she’s part Irish? Alyson’s best role to date was as the cute and lovable Michelle Flaherty in the American Pie franchise. However, she is making a name for herself these days in the CBS sitcom How I Met Your Mother. SheWired readers probably remember her best as the bisexual character Willow in Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Hannigan’s Willow became one of the most prominent bisexual characters in pop culture, and had one of the longest-running lesbian relationships on network television.

4) Rose McGowan – McGowan inherited her Irish/French heritage from both parents.  Most remember her as Tatum in Wes Craven’s Scream, but she was also a regular on the hit TV show Charmed and starred in Quentin Tarantino’s Grindhouse. McGowan’s deep, sexy voice and goth style sets her apart from most in Hollywood.

3) Bridget Moynahan – This self proclaimed tomboy hails from New England and is 100% Irish-American.  Her feature films include Coyote Ugly, The Sum of All Fears and I, Robot. Moynahan has also appeared on numerous TV shows such as Sex in the City, Six Degrees and Eli Stone.

2) Megan Fox – Fox is a mix of Irish, French and Native American. She is known for her role in the big budget franchise Transformers, as well as Jennifer’s Body and the upcoming western Jonah Hex. In an interview with Esquire magazine Fox proclaimed that she is “confidently bisexual.”  We’ll have to stay tuned…….

1) Olivia Wilde – Wilde has many ties to Ireland and Irish culture, she lived in Dublin for some time while attending The Gaiety School of Acting. Although recognized primarily as a TV actress, Wilde will be making a big splash onto the silver screen in the upcoming sci-fi action flick Tron: Legacy. Her TV credits include The O.C., The Black Donnelly’s and House. Wilde is so sexy that Fox (our number 2) told GQ magazine, “Olivia Wilde is so sexy, she makes me want to strangle a mountain ox with my bare hands.”

So, let’s raise a green beer to these lovely ladies and celebrate their gaelic genes.

Slainté!
