Since I'm currently covering the next generation of power lesbians under 40, I figured I should give readers a taste of what's already out there, so I've compiled a list of the top ten power lesbians that my ladies have to supercede. These women have class, fashion sense, sexy careers and powerhouse looks. These girls have it all. I think the phrase "Power Lesbian" means the entire package -- you can't be lacking anything! These woman are all doing amazing things, some of them so young they just graduated college. They're young Hollywood elites, I think It's time to acknowledge them as the power lesbians that they are. Ladies, these are the type of woman you should be marrying.
In no particular order...
Amanda Moore: 30, Super Model
Style has always been kind of a touchy subject for lesbians. Amanda Moore does fashion with such swagger and such class it's stunning. Moore never hid her sexual orientation from the public even though other top models have been known to in the past. Moore has always been open about being gay, and it doesn't appear to have affected her career or her fans negatively.She's gained not only male attention, but that of every lesbian in the entertainment industry. Not to mention, I'm sure a poster of Moore is on the wall of every 17-year-old high school girl who has ever questioned her sexuality. "I could have sworn that to be a model I'd have to be all girly and cutesy and here you guys are doing me up like a boy. Who would have thought?" Moore replied in a 1999 models.com photo spread regarding her modeling style.
Her androgynous style and remarkably stunning looks have landed her on the cover of Italian Vogue and sporting threads of the likes of and Gucci and Alexander McQueen while strutting down their runway shows during fashion week. Moore was escorting a friend to an open modeling call when someone from NEXT model management picked her up on the spot! Talk about U-Haul worthy ladies. The only gay super model ever bigger was played by Angelina!! Move over Dickinson, Moore is here.

Stefani Germanotta aka Lady Gaga: 23, Singer
So, she's Bi-sexual -- I mean she openly sleeps with women -- isn't that close enough to being openly gay? She's just such a genius I couldn’t leave her out of this equation. When I picked up Lady GaGa's First domestic album "The Fame" I was so happy I could die. Her club thick beats and creative lyrics boomed through my speakers and occupied my ipod for months. She took the two elements that were missing in pop music -- real talent, and outlandish performance -- and brought them to a whole new level. Finally, what the kid's have been waiting for. A pop star who can sing, and isn't afraid to show us who she really is, no matter what anyone thinks of her.
Gaga's new album, The Fame: Monster is a re-release of her first album. It's all the tracks that the label wouldn't let her release on the first run. They are grittier, edgier, and much more complex; it shows that Gaga is here to stay, and that she's not messing around when it comes to stage presence. I have seen her perform in many different venues, and on many different television shows, never repeating the same performance twice. Unlike many of today's pop stars, Gaga puts on a new unexpected show every time she performs, not allowing any of her set lists, or costumes to leak out before she sets foot on the stage. I think I should just make it known that I want Stephanie Germanati to be my best friend, and I think in order to do that we need to date for a while first. Steph, if you're single please, oh please call me.
Katherine Moennig: 32, Actress
What lesbian doesn't know who "Shane" is? Katherine Moennig hit the lesbian scene hard when she started playing the character in 2004 on Showtime's The L Word. Although she's not officially out our gaydar says otherwise. Kate grew up in rural Pennsylvania and learned at a young age that the compition between men and woman isn't nearly as strong as that of the compition between women and gravitated towards boys as friends when she was a child.
She got into acting until she was older, claiming that she wanted to be a doorman (p.s. I think it's offensive that we can't have use the phrase, "doorwoman" don't worry Kate, I've got your back) when she was younger, come on, that's so charming. You know you would have hit on that girl if she was working the door of your apartment complex. Her character on The L Word is considered, in our small community, to be a "player," never settling down with one woman -- serial dating as they say. When asked if she was anything like her character on the show, Katharine replied with "I don't think I have even close to her reputation, but there are many things that make us similar."
With her boyish good looks, and amazing fashion sense, I think she could have anyone, not to mention the fact that she's the niece of Blythe Danner and the cousin of Gwyneth Paltrow and she was on the biggest lesbian show in America. I mean come on! She's SHANE!!! She's for sure a keeper.

Kim Stoltz: 26, Model/MTV VJ/Writer/Activist
{C}America's gay girls across the country tunes in to The CW on Wednesday nights around 8 pm -- for every lesbians' dream--getting all cozy with a Budweiser, Tivo the L Word and Ellen on Jay Leno of course, and to tune into the new season of America's Next Top Model (ANTM to those in the know). No reason to hide it, we all know you watch, cause so do we. Enter 26-year-old Kim Stolz, the androgynous model out of New York. She was the first openly gay model on the show.
Kim rocks everything from hoodies to pearls, Chucks to heels. She has an ever changing fashion sense and a flair for showing America how she feels about the Prop 8 disaster by becoming a political rights activist regarding the issue. Stolz has also been working as an MTV VJ since her ANTM days have ended. Smoking hot, great style, and involved in political rights? If I saw Kim Stolz standing outside of Whole Foods asking me to give money to Prop 8...just show me where to sign.
Clea Duvall: 33, Actress
{C}But I'm a cheerleader.That's really all I have to say. If you're a lesbian and you don't know what that phrase means, stop reading, leave your house, go to the nearest video store and pick up a copy of But I'm a Cheerleader starring Natasha Lyone and Clea Duvall. The film made waves as one of the biggest cult classic gay films of all time, and Duvall, the only one in the "make us straight camp" who doesn’t allow herself to go straight, does such an amazing job of making us fall in love with her.
Her freckled baby face, coupled with her chain-smoking and f-bomb dropping mouth, makes her any girl's fantasy. Any girl with a full name like Clea Helen D'Etienne Duvall for sure makes my list. Duvall also moved out of her parent's house when she was 16 she got her own apartment and a job. She's supported herself ever since. Hey, she could have stayed with me. I could have maybe made her come out, even though my gay flag goes haywire everytime I see her, she's also not out publicly. From The Faculty to Girl Interrupted, Duvall's a talented actress and photographer. Who doesn't want a hot actress who can snap a few candids to take home?

Lindsay Lohan: 23, Actress/Singer
{C}She's young, she's hot, she's famous, she's talented, and she's gay? What? No Way. Yes, it's true. When Lindsay Lohan and Samantha Ronson became a couple, they crushed the hearts of young boys all over the world. I'm sure publicists went crazy and parents immediately thought Sam corrupted her, although I would bet money on the fact that Lindz Lo doesn't need any type of corrupting. I'm pretty sure she's like that without anyone's forced hand. Lindsay made me laugh so hard in Mean Girls that my friends and I still quote the amazing one-liner's Lohan spit out during her performance.
Linds started working in Hollywood in the late nineties in a contemporary version of The Parent Trap, where at ten, she played two separate roles -- accents included. She then went on to play a child who has her body taken over by her mother in another remake, Freaky Friday. She takes risks with the roles she chooses, and I have to say it, it just a plan good actress. Plus lets be honest, she knows how to party like a rock star, and who doesn't need a little fun in their life?
She's a talented, sexy movie star, who knows how to have a good time; does the word perfect come to anyone else's mind? Lindsay lets designer threads drape from in-shape body and then takes naked pictures. I mean, how we could not love her? Not to mention her antics in the press keep me entertained for hours on end. Mrs. Rachel Lohan has a nice ring to it, doesn't it?
Gia Carangi: 26, Supermodel
{C}
I know. I know. She's deceased. But this list just didn’t seem the same without her on it. The savvy world of modeling was changed forever when FORD model management signed a then 17-year-old Gia Marie Carrangi to its agency in the early eighties. She had spiked hair, wore motorcycle jackets, and always carried a knife. More importantly she was a hot lesbian in the 1980's, who just happened to become the world's first supermodel.
I'll repeat -- hot lesbian in the 80'. That's even a harder title to live up to than the latter. She changed the face of modeling with her unique looks and outrageous attitude. Models weren't models until post Gia; she redefined how the world looked at people and fashion.
Carrangi became hooked on heroin early in her career and it eventually led to her demise. She contracted AIDS and passed away at the tender age of 26, (actually becoming the first famous woman to die from the disease). I couldn't comprise this list without including the woman who defined modeling and fashion, especially because she was openly gay. In 1999 HBO made a movie about the life and times of the world's first supermodel, and guess who played her part? Angelina. (p.s. ladies, if you haven't seen Gia, you also need to stop reading and immediatly pick up a copy. It's genius) The world misses Gia, or at least I do.

Rachel Maddow: 36, Activist/Talk Show Host/Author
{C}
Ladies, get your Tivo ready. Every weeknight at 9pm EST on MSNBC-TV, Rachel Maddow's funny, fast-paced news show airs. The Rachel Maddow show is the only show I have on episodic format on my Tivo. Finally, a talk show that takes a smart and funny look into politics, pop culture and real live news. If you're not watching, you're missing out. Rachel's power lesbian status doesn't stop there. She also has a Doctorate in Political Science -- just a side note she was a Rhodes Scholar -- and she is an activist for HIV/AIDS research as well as prison reform. She apparently makes a "perfect" cocktail and hates Coldplay -- things are just getting better. A Rhodes Scholar who will make me a perfect cocktail? Sounds like my dream woman. Get in line for this one, I'll fight you all for her and I throw a mean left hook.
Leisha Hailey: 38, Actress/Musician
{C}
When I turn on Showtime's The L Word, the one character I think could be my best friend is Alice Piescecki. Her animated facial expressions coupled with her dry sense of humor make her one of the show's main reason's to watch. But, the actress who portrayed her doesn't stop there.
When Hailey wasn't making girls all over the country cry from laughter on The L Word she was playing music. You're heart is starting to flutter already isn't it? She formed the Pop Duo called The Murmurs in 1991, and they enjoyed a cult following in the 90's, releasing several albums and touring with Lilith Fair in 2001 (which we all know was every Birkenstock wearing lesbian's dream). Hailey also formed a small independent record label called Marfa Records in late 2002. Soon after, Leisha formed the elctro-pop duo Uh Huh Her with Camilla Grey.
In 2007, she was named the sexiest woman alive on an online website, to which she responded, "I hope Angelina's not mad at me." This is a woman I wouldn't kick out of bed for eating crackers. Hell, she could even wake up and not make the bed and I would still like her. She's just that charming.

Michelle Rodriguez: 32, Actress
{C}
She's foul-mouthed, tough, Latina, and so sexy! Michelle Rodriguez ran across an open casting call for the low-budget film "Girlfight" in 2000, where she beat out 350 other applicants to win her first role as the tough but innocent Diana Guzman, a big-hearted but troubled teen who decides to channel her aggression by training to become a boxer. The film took home top prize at the Sundance Film Festival and won Award of the Youth at the Cannes Film Festival. Talk about picking the right script? Michelle's movie won at two of the biggest film festivals in the country and it was her debut? There is something to be said about that alone, not to mention every girl loves a woman who can protect them. I'm telling you -- she's borderline scary.
She then went on to play a sexy, bad-ass surfer chick in Blue Crush and then lent her voice to the video game Halo 2, in 2004. She's as bad-ass in real life as on screen, having multiple run-in's with the law and having her sexuality questioned all over Hollywood. I mean, I think lesbians know the answer, but it's never been confirmed. Although, she has been linked to an outrageous number of women Including the smoking hot, T3 villian, Kristana Loken. I'm pretty sure Rodriguez could beat me up so I hope she doesn't get mad about this posting, although I'm sure the sex is amazing, I mean seriously, look at this girl!
