Jane Lynch Nabs Singing Gig on 'Glee'

Jane Lynch may truly be getting all she wants for Christmas. The openly gay actress, hot off her Satellite Award, Golden Globe, and Screen Actors Guildnominations for her turn as the snarky cheerleading coach on Fox's Glee, is getting just what she asked for: For her coach Sue Sylvester to sing.

Jane Lynch may truly be getting all she wants for Christmas.

The actress, hot off her Satellite Award, Golden Globe, and Screen Actors Guild nominations for her turn as the snarky cheerleading coach on Fox's Glee, is getting just what she asked for: For her coach Sue Sylvester to sing.

After her campaign last month to Glee creator/writer Ryan Murphy for a scene in song, Murphy seems to have given in, according to Entertainment Weekly.

"I have read the first two episodes and I can tell you that I will be singing and dancing," Lynch told EW. "I can't tell you what I'm singing because it's top-secret."

Asked for a hint, Lynch channeled Sue: "It's a very cold song."

Add everyone's favorite primetime lesbian singing to the all-Madonna episode as well as the Joss Whedon-directed installment to the things to look forward to when Glee returns from its winter hiatus in April.

Considering Sue vowed revenge on the glee club and its director, Will, in the fall finale after she was fired for sharing the club's set list, you know there's plenty of cold shoulders to come. However, that won't be all we'll see of Lynch's character. The out actress also told EW that Sue's sister, who has Down syndrome, will return come spring.

"I hear that will happen, yes," Lynch told EW. "I haven't read anything yet, but I heard that's in the works for somewhere in the next nine episodes."

Scenes in the first half of Glee's freshman run featuring Sue with Becky, walk-on cheerleader with Down syndrome, led to a very poignant scene where Lynch shows her range - and Sue's heart - as she read to her sister.

It's turning out to be quite the year for Lynch - who also is among the nominees for SheWired's Gay Woman of the Year. Could an Emmy nomination be next?
