A Gay Girl's Guide to Sundance: Day Two, Joan Jett, 'The Runaways'

Writer and photographer Jenn Kennedy continues to find the gay and lesbian at the Sundance Film Festival. On her second day she met up with The Four-Faced Liar's Marja Lewis Ryan and Emily Peck, spotted Marisa Tomei and John C. Reilly and hit up Joan Jett's The Runaways' show, which boasted special guests Dakota Fanning and Kristen Stewart.

Day two here in Park City was action packed. After Sins of My Father I interviewed the adorable girls from The Four-Faced Liar. The best of friends, Emily and Marja finished each other's sentences and spoke passionately about their new feature. (Their interview will post later this week).

Next I schlepped up Main Street to Bing Lounge. Movieline Magazine was hosting a party to launch the new movie Cyrus. I noticed Marissa Tomei and John C. Reilly in mix. They also had a tequila aficionado in the corner sampling 1942 Don Julio, so of course I spent a good 30 minutes debating the quality of Patron with him.

Sundance is known as a hotbed for new product introduction. The industry people wandering the streets are a desirable target for branding managers. I noticed with registration we all got Brita water bottles, which are part of the festival's efforts to reduce the obscene water bottle waste. I also noticed Perky Jerky at the Phoenix Lounge.

Apparently, it was invented by someone who spilled his Red Bull on his Jerky and had an 'ah ha' moment. It's packed with caffeine and protein, all in one. Twitter is also trying to get in on the action. They are hosting a lounge, complete with panels on the ins and outs of becoming a Twitterati.

My last stop last night was Joan Jett at Harry O's, a staple bar in the middle of Main Street. Ms. Jett did not disappoint the packed house. She looked fabulous in a sequined full body suit and Converse sneakers.

She rocked the crowd for a good hour and brought out the director Floria Sigismondi  and talent (Dakota Fanning and Kristen Stewart) from The Runaways, the movie about her life. It let out at midnight as they cleared the venue for the next concert (John Legend), which was scheduled to go 12-4 am. I waved my white flag of fatigue and called it a night.
