Lady Gaga may only be # 7 on Forbes The World's 100 Powerful Women, and #2 on Entertainment Weekly's Power List, but the rave reviews she got from Elton John totally make up for it.
Elton John discussed possibly collaborating with Lady Gaga, and gave his thoughts on her upcoming studio album Born This Way in a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly:
“She and I come from exactly the same place. She's kind of like the bastard daughter of Elton John. I love her, and I love her ability to write. There’s a chance I might do one track with her, but she’s so busy and I’m so busy, we can never get together! But her record – it’s fucking amazing. ‘Born This Way’, which is the title song, will completely get rid of Gloria Gaynor’s 'I Will Survive.' This is the new 'I Will Survive.' That was the gay anthem. This is the new gay anthem. Actually, it’s not a gay anthem – it can apply to anybody.”
Aside from the fact that Gaga is incapable of releasing a bad track, being called the new Gloria Gaynor by Elton John is definitely saying something! Personally, the only thing better than a Gaga-John collaboration would be Billy Joel joining the two superstars for a project. Lady Gaga's new album is due out next month.
