Rosie O'Donnell's ex-wife has found a new love. Kelli Carpenter married Anne Steele on June 1 in a private ceremony at the couple's home in Chestnut Ridge, N.Y., reports the New York Times.

The lengthy article profiles the couple's romance, which began after years of casual friendship when Steele, a Broadway-caliber mezzo soprano, was performing on the cruise line Carpenter co-founded, R Family Cruises.

After being accompanied down the aisle by Carpenter's oldest sons, each woman began her vows to the other by saying "Little did I know that my future wife was standing in front of me all those years."

Carpenter, 46, met Steele, 39, more than a decade ago, when the former was married to Rosie O'Donnell. Carpenter and O'Donnell have four children together, of whom they share custody.

It was Carpenter who eventually made the first move — subtly brushing her hand by Steele's in a sweet moment reminiscent of a novel teenage romance. Later that week, Steele broke the tension by sending Carpenter a text across the room that asked, "You want to make out?" Carpenter responded enthusiastically, and the rest, as they say, is history. Delve deeper into that history with the Times profile here.

Congratulations to the happy couple — we here at SheWired wish them many joyous returns!
