We were already excited for next week's premiere of ABC Family's The Fosters, about lesbian moms raising a family of biological and adopted kids while adjusting to the new foster child in their home. But now that the actresses who play the moms, Stef (Teri Polo) and Lena (Sherri Saum), told Us Weekly about their spot-on chemistry, we’re even more eager for Jennifer Lopez produced show to air.
ABC Family has featured LGBT characters on Greek, Pretty Little Liars, and The Secret Life of the American Teenager, but The Fosters looks to be undeniably eye opening in its own right. "I thought it was really time that something like this is on the air, and that LGBT characters are represented in a grounded way," Polo told Us.
Both actresses are embracing their inherent chemistry and the characters’ romantic relationship. Polo paid Saum the ultimate compliment saying, "It's the most comfortable role I've had in 27 years. I have more chemistry with Sherri than I've ever had with any male counterpart."
The mutual admiration didn’t end there as Saum also weighed in on the romantic moments with her on-screen partner. "It's no more awkward than it is kissing a guy on a show for the first time," agreed Saum. "She's lovely."
