ABC Family’s guilty little pleasure Pretty Little Liars returns for its third season on June 5th and the season premiere description ABC Family has recently released gives away some SPOILERS!
The third season picks up the summer after the second season finale in which Mona was revealed to be ‘A’ and resident lesbian Emily Fields’ (Shay Mitchell) girlfriend Maya (Bianca Lawson) was supposedly hauled away in a body bag.
While the PLL crew left it open to interpretation as to whether or not it was really Maya in the body bag, as none of the liars actually saw her being zipped up into it, the season three premiere description leaves little to the imagination.
“A summer has passed since Aria, Emily, Hanna and Spencer found out about Mona being 'A' and Maya's death. With the terror seemingly over and an alleged murderer now behind bars, the town of Rosewood is slowly healing from old and new wounds and trying to get back to normalcy,” The Huffington Post reports.
As it is Rosewood and PLL is renowned for its Hitchcockian doubles and twists and turns there’s still a chance Maya could return, but the description appears to affirm that Emaya will indeed be over.
Below is the remainder of the season 3 premiere description. It’s nice to see that Emily is following in the footsteps of the actress who plays her, Mitchell, and doing some charity / activism work:
"Each of the four girls spent their summer in different ways - Aria taking a photography class, Spencer taking college courses at Hollis, Hanna taking cooking classes with Caleb and Emily building houses in Haiti. But what looks normal for each girl is not necessarily so, as all four are hardly over what happened. With post-traumatic stress, anger and the acquisition of more secrets the four Liars are anything but fine. Now all back together and coming upon the second anniversary of Alison's disappearance, the girls find themselves back on the defensive when a shocking event rocks Rosewood."
The season 3 full trailer premieres on ABC Family.com on May 7, at 9 p.m. EST.
