There have been some big changes for the cast and characters of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit over the past year. Kelli Giddish was added to the cast after Christopher Meloni left, adding another strong (and hot!) female lead to the “team of dedicated detectives.”
This week’s episode "Father Dearest," while supposedly a pretty rough one, should make all you Mariska and Kelli fans very happy. Giddish’s Detecive Amanda Rollins and Hargitay's Detective Olivia Benson must go undercover to a sperm bank… as a couple! While its only for one episode, Rollins and Benson as a lesbian couple is exciting!
In an interview with The Huffington Post, Giddish talked about what it was like to have her character and Benson go to a sperm bank undercover as supposed lovers.
It was fun. We had a blast with it. It was the first scene of the day and we went out to set and Mariska's like, "Hi. Let's go be lovers for a second." [Laughs.] We were just cracking up. And it's always so much fun to work with Mariska. And any time you get to do a little something different, in terms of being playful or whatever, it's always fun.
And when asked if they talked beforehand about how they would play the scene…
“No, we just showed up and we were like, "When should we have the hand touch? When does the hand touch happen?" [Laughs.] It was fun. Like I said, any time you get to play around with the characters and act like someone else, it's great.
