The stars came out for the west coast premiere reading of Oscar winning screenwriter Dustin Lance Black's play 8 based on the Prop 8 trial. The likes of George Clooney, Jamie Lee Curtis, Christine Lahti, Brad Pitt, Kevin Bacon, Jane Lynch, Martin Sheen and Matt Bomer reenacted the courtroom and personal drama of the historic legal battle to have Californa’s gay marriage ban, Prop. 8, overturned and helped raise more than $2 million for the cause.
The script of 8 was adapted from courtroom transcripts, first-hand accounts of drama in the courtroom, and interviews with the plaintiffs.
Rob Reiner directed the stage reading, and Bryan Singer, a film director, was the presenting sponsor of the event, which served as a fundraiser for American Foundation for Equal Rights.
Here are a few photos from the event.
