American Horror Story Opens 2012 Paley Fest - Sarah Paulson Returns and More...

American Horror Story (AHS) opened the 29th annual Paley Fest on Friday night with series co-creators Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk confirming that Sarah Paulson, Jessica Lange and Zachary Quinto are returning for a second season.

American Horror Story (AHS) opened the 29th annual Paley Fest on Friday night with series co-creators Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk confirming that out actress Sarah Paulson, Jessica Lange and Zachary Quinto are returning for a second season.

However, Murphy stressed that even though Paulson, Lange and Quinto are confirmed, “anyone can pop up at any time.”

Joining Murphy and Falchuk on the panel was executive producer Dante Di Loreto and cast members Connie Britton (Vivien Harmon), Dylan McDermott (Ben Harmon), Jessica Lange (Constance Langdon), Sarah Paulson (Billie Dean Howard), Frances Conroy (Moira O’Hara), and Alexandra Breckenridge (Young Moira).

Season 2 is shaping up to be an interesting one for die-hard fans of the show. Murphy let the audience in on the direction that the horror anthology is taking, and he said to expect the returning characters to play someone completely opposite of their character in Season 1.

There are no repeat characters or storylines planned. The second season will be set on the east coast at an institution and will feature a new set of characters and situations. Season 1 took place in an old haunted mansion in Los Angeles.

Paulson’s addition to the returning cast might come as a surprise to some, seeing as though she was only featured in 3 of the 12 episodes in season one. She played Billie, a psychic brought in to consult on the paranormal activity in the Harmon house.

Wetpaint caught up with Paulson on the red carpet and she said, “I would do anything for Ryan Murphy — he could ask me to stand in a hole and bury myself alive and film it. He’s been very kind to me over the years and always cast me in things and I would do anything for him.”

Paulson said during the panel that she can only watch the show during the hours of 12pm-2pm. “It’s too scary for me.”

Season 2 is scheduled to start production in July, with the first episode airing sometime in October.

Paley Fest is an annual TV festival, hosted by The Paley Center for Media. According to their website, their purpose is to celebrate the cultural, creative, and social significance of television, radio, and emerging platforms for the professional community and media-interested public.

The remaining schedule (March 5-12) features some of TV’s best and brightest, including the cast of New Girl, Revenge, Mad Men, and Modern Family. You can purchase tickets from Paley Fest.
