The 2012 Vanity Fair Hollywood issue, featuring some of the young Hollywood elite, is set to hit newsstands on Monday. We’re happy to report that the cover shines the spotlight on some pretty talented actresses who are very comfortable portraying lesbian, bisexual or gender bending characters.
Rooney Mara (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo), Mia Wasikowska (Albert Nobbs), Adepero Oduye (Pariah) and Paula Patton (Precious) are just a few of the actresses who were chosen to grace this year’s cover dressed in Old Hollywood 20’s glam.
The three-page fold-out is the first Vanity Fair cover for famed photographer Mario Testino, best known for shooting the engagement photos of Prince William and Kate Middleton in December 2010 and for his work with top fashion houses including Burberry, Gucci, Michael Kors, Dolce & Gabbana and Versace.
In a behind the scenes video of the photo shoot posted on the LA Times website, Rooney confesses that she hasn’t yet sat down to watch her Oscar nominated performance as Lisbeth in The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo. "I haven't seen it yet," she said. "I didn't watch dailies. Sometimes I'd watch playback if it would help."
