Sex and the City star Sarah Jessica Parker will replace ailing Demi Moore as feminist icon Gloria Steinem in the movie Lovelace, about Deep Throat star Linda Lovelace, according to Entertainment Weekly.

It was announced earlier this month that Moore would portray Steinem but she officially dropped out this week after reportedly checking into rehab.

Howl directors Rob Epstein and Jeffrey Friedman are at the helm on Lovelace and they’ve who've lined up a heavy-hitting cast including Amanda Seyfried as Lovelace, James Franco as Hugh Hefner and Peter Sarsgaard as Lovelace’s notorious husband, Chuck Traynor.

The film also stars Sharon Stone as Lovelace’s mother and Adam Brody as Deep Throat costar Harry Reems as well as Eric Roberts, Bobby Cannavale, Chris Noth, and Juno Temple.

Lovelace gained notoriety in 1972 with the release of the hard-core film, one of the first to feature an actual plot and to receive a wide theatrical release. She later became a spokeswoman against pornography before dying in 2002. The film is being made with the cooperation of the Lovelace estate.
