Queen Latifah Tosses Her Hat into the Talk Show Ring

Queen Latifah is tossing her hat in the ring of daytime talk divas with a new show in the works for the fall of 2013. Flavor Unit, The Queen’s company with Shakim Compere, will co-produce the talk show with Will Smith’s Overbrook Entertainment and Sony Pictures Television, according to Deadline.

Queen Latifah is tossing her hat in the ring of daytime talk divas with a new show in the works for the fall of 2013.  Flavor Unit, The Queen’s company with Shakim Compere, will co-produce the talk show with Will Smith’s Overbrook Entertainment and Sony Pictures Television, according to Deadline.

While 2013 seems like a long way off, but Sony TV is taking time to develop the show rather than push for a 2012 launch in a field of that’s already overcrowded with talk shows for Katie Couric, Ricki Lake and Bethenny Frankel, Deadline reports.

But this will not be Latifah’s first turn at the talk show table. The actress and musician hosted the Queen Latifah Show in 1999, which ran for two seasons. Meanwhile, Latifah’s scripted series Single Ladies has been picked up for a second season.
