Cartoon Network's groundbreaking animated series Steven Universe beautifully wrapped up earlier this year and we still haven't fully recovered. Over its seven-year run, the series became a beacon for its LGBTQ+ representation, pure-hearted optimism, heartwrenching storylines, and beloved characters, so it's safe to say we still haven't fully processed that it's over. (I prefer to live in denial.)
An essential new behind-the-scenes volume from Abrams Books and Cartoon Network details the inception of the Emmy and Annie-award winning series. A companion volume to the bestselling Art & Origins book, Steven Universe: End of an Era contains over 300 pieces of concept art, storyboards, background paintings, exclusive interviews, and the detailed charts and timelines that went into crafting the overarching story for the entire series, annotated by series creator Rebecca Sugar.
"Steven Universe: End of an Era is a love letter to one of the most progressive, imaginative, and beloved animated series of our time," the press release reads.
