As Pride events are taking place throughout the country, some bi folks have a very niche question to ask: “Should I bring my different-gender partner to Pride?”
When you’re bisexual and dating someone of another gender than yourself, queer gatherings can be tricky. If you are at an LGBT event with a significant other of a different gender than yourself, you will be assumed straight. Your bisexuality becomes invisible.
Sometimes you can be made to feel that you don’t belong—that you’re not “queer enough” to join the party.
In order to avoid the negativity, many bisexuals think maybe they shouldn’t bring their partner to Pride unless their partner is of their same gender. But we’re here to refute that.
Here are just a few reasons why, if you want to, you should always bring your love to Pride, regardless of their gender:
