It's rare that a voice comes along that you can fully relate and connect to. It can be tough to find someone to look up to; someone that inspires you, comforts you, entertains you, and challenges you. Yes, it can be tough — but it's not impossible.
For bisexuals, there is a unique and important voice that we'd recommend: Connor Manning.
Manning is a hardworking and hilarious YouTuber who posts videos on crucial topics such as self-love and acceptance, the struggles of addiction, mental health and self-care, gender issues and, of course, bisexuality. He offers a fresh perspective that many of us can relate to. He is funny, humble, relatable, charming, and wise. He cares about his viewers and continues to make efforts to connect with them and help them. His Tumblr acts as part-blog, part-advice column, with Manning consistently trying to help out those who look to him for guidance.
But perhaps the greatest contribution Connor has provided is his policy of letting people be who they are, and encouraging people to live their lives authentically and without shame. He reminds us to simply be ourselves, and he's hilarious and charming as hell doing it.
Basically, he's pretty damn close to the bisexual role model of our dreams. And, if you remain unconvinced, here's 10 more examples of times he proved himself worthy of our love and admiration:
1. When he reminded us that there's no one right or wrong way to be bisexual and there's "no such thing as a bad bisexual"
2. When he refuses to deal with people who try to shame bisexuals or deny that bisexuality exists
3. When he acknowledges and calls out the struggles bisexual folks often face when seeking healthcare
4. When he talks about the discomfort bisexuals often feel in both queer circles and straight circles — like we're "too gay" for straight people, but "too straight" for gay people
5. When he finds the silver lining in people not understanding bisexuality: sometimes it's fun to confuse people
6. When he talks about other important issues, such as gender and gender expression, and reminds us that it's all a social construct
7. When he talked about the positive things about being bi, like "I don't rule out any possibilities in regards to what my relationships will look like"
8. When he is supportive and inclusive of other identities, such as pansexuality or asexuality
9. When he reminds us that it's okay to be confused about your sexuality
10. When he is relatable as hell talking about how overwhelming hot people are. Seriously. Hot people; how are we supposed to deal with them?
