This Trans Model Recreated Adam Levine's Nude Portrait and It's Awesome

Once upon a time, Adam Levine bared (almost) everything in Cosmopolitan UK to raise awareness for prostrate and testicular cancer. Then the photograph inspired trans model Aydian Dowling to recreate the portrait for FTM magazine.

Publisher Jason Robert Ballard teamed up with Dowling for the Levine-themed shoot. And, like the original image, this photo created transgender visibility.

“Some areas of my body used to remind me of everything I’m not. Now they represent everything I am.” - Dowling

Some people criticised the portrait and say Dowling doesn't "look trans." To that claim, Ballard responded:

"What does trans even look like? Perhaps we're struggling so hard for our rights here because people have a false sense of who we are. So besides the entertainment factor of a sexy naked man, there is a element of positive visibility too."

Since breaking the internet with his sexy spread, Dowling has dedicated his time to pushing for trans visibility.
