Lip Service, BBC Three's bold drama series about lesbians living in contemporary Glasgow, written and created by Harriet Braun, will return for a second series. Laura Fraser, Ruta Gedmintas and Fiona Button lead the cast of twenty-something lesbians whose sex lives and love affairs thrilled each week. Lip Service attracted an average audience of over half a million across all six episodes and enjoyed massive support from fans and the online community.

For Coronation Street’s young lesbian couple Sophie (Brooke Vincent) and Sian (Sacha Parkinson) New Year’s Eve rang in the event of the year. They finally consummated their relationship. And, what was shown to be on the bedside table but an open bible. OMG! What next? Oh and of course one of their mums caught them in the middle of having sex.

Pop diva and gay icon Samantha Fox and Sabrina Salerno teamed up to produce a terrific cover version of Blondie’s famous track "Call Me." It reached #4 on the Italian singles sales chart in July 2010 but is just now hitting the UK. Before blonde bombshell Samantha embarked on her successful singing career she was a top glamour model and premiere British sex symbol. Not only does leggy Italian beauty Sabrina sing, but she is also a model, actress, record producer, television hostess and songwriter.

Life has been just chugging along smoothly for Sophie (Brooke Vincent) and Sian (Sacha Parkinson), our lovely teenage lesbians on Coronation Street. That is, until Sophie’s 16th birthday party last Friday. The Pastor turned up just as Sophie and Sian shared a kiss. Dropping her birthday gift like it was on fire he turned on his heel and left without a word. 

Last Thursday evening I was invited to the BBC Centre in London to attend the premiere of the first episode of the  new six-part BBC lesbian drama aptly named Lip Service created and written by Harriet Braun. In the opening ep. Ruta Gedmintas' Frankie -very Shane-like- returns to Glasgow for a funeral and ends up having sex in the funeral parlor, while her ex Cat (Laura Fraser) looks on. 

Bursting onto the scene Laura Steel unleashes her vibrant single Feedback. Released on August 8th, the track is an infectious electro-pop stomper written and composed by Laura herself.  “Feedback” is currently setting the dance floors on fire across the UK and is riding high at number 5 in the official commercial UK club chart. 

Remember Sophie (Brooke Vincent) and Sian (Sacha Parkinson) the Corrie teenage lesbians? Well, their little secret has come out and their pretty pink bubble has finally burst! The cat, or pussy (as some might call it) is out of the bag.

At only 18 years old Sacha Parkinson is an established actress now starring in the UK prime-time soap Coronation Street. But the young star of "Corrie" has been in the limelight for years, having starred in the BBC school drama Grange Hill and with appearances under her belt in Doctors, Waterloo Road and The Royal, among others. But with Corrie, she is making history by taking part in the first-ever lesbian story line in the show’s 50 years on the air.  And, as an added bonus, her love interest on the soap is her childhood friend, 18-year-old Brooke Vincent.

I caught up with Indie artist Jeryl Orsino by coincidence when her friend, concert pianist, Joyce Anderson, asked if I would play Jeryl's music on my radio show -- on Durham Dales Radio. I'm so pleased Joyce asked because I had terrific feedback from my listeners and, personally, I fell in love with Jeryl's music. Jeryl, an out lesbian, has had her music featured in Crystal Chappell's Web series Venice and in Anyone But Me, which stars Nicole Pacent and Rachael Hip-Flores.

Best known for her role as a cleaner in Shameless, (UK Channel 4 drama) 35 year old Maxine Peake donned corsets and period clothes to play pioneering 'out' lesbian Anne Lister in 'The Secret Diaries of Miss Anne Lister' screened on UK BBC 2 Monday night. But back to the BBC production... The lovely Maxine portrayed Anne Lister with convincing lesbian charm. There is no doubt will have gained an instant adoring lesbian following. She had her hand up many petticoats and no doubt Queen Victoria would have said, 'We are not amused!'

While the music scene for female artists in the States is all about Lilith Fair getting back on the road after a decade-long hiatus, the break-out 24-year-old half-Welsh / half-Greek singer songwriter Marina of Marina and the Diamonds is taking her show on the road in Europe. Marina Diamandis released her new single 'I Am The Robot' from the album 'The Family Jewels' on Tuesday. And while she's busy touring the UK, she shot her the video for the single on the infamous Hollywood Boulevard.
