The lineup for this year's annual Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival is one of the best (and queerest) ones yet, and while there are plenty of LGBT performers that will light the stages of the infamous music fest later this Spring, one of the biggest and brightest names is that of Halsey.
For those of you who don't know, Halsey (born Ashley Frangipane) is an openly bisexual 21-year-old from New Jersey who is known for being as much of a vocal social activist as she is for being a talented singer-songwriter who has a way of crafting perfectly catchy and etheral indie pop tunes.
There are plenty of reasons to be obsessed with her, but here are some of the things that will make you want to be right there at Coachella when she performs alongside some of music's other biggest names.
Her music is amazing.
The way Halsey blends deep and personal lyrics with catchy, pop instrumentals makes for an amazing (and vibe-worthy) listening experience, so you can only imagine how good all of her hits like "Ghost" and "New Americana" sound in person!
She's super talented.
Halsey writes all of her songs, and that's part of the reason why they are so good. Because her lyrics and music are so personal to her, they give her an edge and a presence that some performers (who probs don't even write their songs) just don't have on stage. And we're living for it.
Her voice is *flame emoji*
Unlike some artists (no tea, no shade), Halsey doesn't need auto-tune of other gimics to sound good live. She's got this thing called natural talent. *sips tea*
Her shows are literally the most fun, entertaining things EVER.
A Halsey concert isn't just a concert. With her lights show and the way she's bouncing around the stage interacting with her live band and her fans, it's an EXPERIENCE.
She's a bad ass both on and off the stage.
Asides from being an amazing musician, Halsey is vocal about so many things, including raising awareness for mental illness, bisexual representation, feminism, and advocating for fellow POCs. How can you not love and support and artist like her?!!?
