The British Academy of Film and Television Arts and their annual awards show has officially dropped Bohemian Rhapsody director and alleged rapist Bryan Singer's name from any mention in the "Outstanding British Film" category.

"In light of recent very serious allegations, BAFTA has informed Bryan Singer that his nomination for Bohemian Rhapsody has been suspended, effective immediately," BAFTA said in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter

They continued:

"BAFTA considers the alleged behavior completely unacceptable and incompatible with its values. This has led to Mr. Singer’s suspended nomination. BAFTA notes Mr. Singer’s denial of the allegations. The suspension of his nomination will therefore remain in place until the outcome of the allegations has been resolved. BAFTA believes everyone has the right to a fulfilling career in a safe, professional working environment, and it will continue to collaborate with the film, games and television industries to achieve this."

THR also reports that the names of Bohemian Rhapsody producer Graham King and writer Anthony McCarten will still appear on the nomination, with the ceremony (often considered the British equivalent of the Oscars) taking place this Sunday.

BAFTA's decision to drop Singer's name from their award nominations comes after GLAAD's decision last month to drop the controversial Freddie Mercury biopic as a nominee for the outstanding film category at their annual Media Awards, following allegations published in The Atlantic of sexual misconduct by Singer.

The Atlantic's exposé features harrowing accounts from four men who claim the openly gay Bohemian Rhapsody director had sexual contact with them when they were underage.
