You Must Watch Lea DeLaria Speak Openly About Being a Butch Lesbian
This week’s “What’s Underneath” featured Orange Is The New Black’s Lea DeLaria titled “What’s Not to Love?” and there isn’t one thing we can find about her that’s unloveable. On the contrary, we love here even more now.
The mother and daughter duo of Fashion & Lifestyle blog StyleLikeU started this video series to "honor how style is not just the clothes you wear. It's knowing who you are. It is your spirit. It is comfort in your skin. It's What's Underneath."
The premise is simple—talk to (opinionated, artistic) people as they slowly undress down to their underwear, allowing viewers to literally and metaphorically see what's underneath.
In this case, we are lucky to hear from Lea DeLaria:
In the video, she offers her banter on butch culture, what it means to be a feminist, and how she reconciled her own identity. There’s something about having to get down to your underwear in front of a camera, that just brings out the most organic and honest things out of a person.
Without this video, we already loved every bit of Lea DeLaria, but watching this is like the cherry on top of the cake, that’s the size of a car, being driven on a float, at the front of the We Love Lea DeLaria parade.
Watch it for yourself here:
